2025-2027 GRIP SL Remote PTL Topcap Interface Part Installation Details
Required Tools
- 398-01-362 Tooling: Compression Needle Driver, Grip Damper
Torque application is critical for proper damper performance
GRIP SL Remote Push-to-Lock
Torque application is critical for proper damper performance
Step 2
Sub-assemble the Top Cap interface parts.
A: Place the Torsion Spring into the hole in the bottom of the cable remote pulley, aligning the vertical leg of Torsion Spring into the hole in the bottom.
B: Align the Pulley Set screw between the arrow and cable stop on the Cable Housing. Aligning closer to the cable stop will increase spring preload. Engage the horizontal tang of the torsion spring with the Cable Housing as shown.
Step 5
Final Pulley Assembly: (see step 6 for alternate method with different tools)
A: Insert flat-end 5mm hex wrench into the pulley. Without pushing down, turn the pulley clockwise until set screw aligns with the “locked position” dot.
B: While holding in place with 5mm hex wrench, use fingers to push the pulley down onto the compression needle. You may need to turn the pulley back and forth slightly and carefully wiggle to get it engaged with the needle.
C: Once pulley is engaged with lockout needle, continue holding down with fingers, but remove the 5mm hex wrench and allow the pulley (and needle) to return to free position. Then fully tighten the pulley retention screw with 2mm hex wrench to 4 in-lbs.
Step 6 is an alternate method of performing step 5 with different tools. There is no need to perform step 6 after performing step 5.
Step 6
A: Hold pulley with Knipex or 17mm open end wrench. Without pushing down, turn the pulley clockwise until set screw aligns with the “locked position” dot.
B: Push down on Knipex to engage the pulley with the compression needle. You may need to turn the Kinpex back and forth slightly and carefully wiggle the pulley to get it engaged with the needle. Once engaged, the pulley should slide down into place with minimal force. Do not force the pulley down if not aligned properly with the needle
C: Fully tighten the pulley retention screw with 2mm hex wrench to 4 in-lbs, then release the Knipex and allow the pulley (and needle) to return to free position.
