2013-2015 FLOAT CTD Rear Shock Remote Eyelet Rebuild

Supplies Needed

  • 0.004" Shim or Seal Pick
  • 1.5mm Hex Wrench
  • 4mm Hex Wrench

Disassembly

Step 1

Remove the rebound knob and the compression pulley with a 1.5 mm hex tool.

Step 2

Remove the wire retaining ring with the help of a .004" valve shim or other small tool.

Step 3

Remove the cable housing stop.

Step 4

With a 2.5 mm hex tool, loosen the set screw to remove the base plate and cable remote spacer.

Step 5

Remove the remote CTD cam assembly and torsion spring.

Step 6

Separate the torsion spring, spring spacer, and rebound cam from the compression cam. Clean all parts thoroughly, and check for wear or damage.

The shape of the compression cam distinguishes between the BV or dish versions.

Reassembly

Step 1

Assemble the cam assembly parts after thinly lubricating with blue high-temp grease. Line up the return spring spacer and cam notches as shown.

Step 2

Liberally lubricate the return spring with waterproof grease such as Sta-Lube SL3125 and insert the spring tang as shown, to install the cam assembly into the eyelet.

Step 3

Line up the upper spring tang with the base plate notch, to install the base plate over the cam assembly in the eyelet.

Step 4

With the cable remote spacer in place, fasten the base plate with the cap screw, tightening to ~25 in-lb torque with a 2.5 mm hex wrench.

Step 5

Install the cable housing stop into your chosen orientation, up or down, and secure it with the wire retaining ring.

Preparing the CTD Remote Pulley

Step 1

Install the remote pulley over the flat sided compression CTD cam as shown.

Step 2

Do not tighten to the full 5 in-lb torque spec yet! Wind the pulley in a clockwise direction with the hex driver, past the built-in pulley stop in the cable housing stop plate. As you wind just beyond the pulley stop, slightly loosen the pulley set screw only enough to ensure necessary clearance for getting by the cable housing stop.

Step 3

Press the pulley down with your thumb with the pulley set screw just loose enough to let you snap the pulley down against the cable housing stop. Tighten the pulley set screw to ~5 in-lb torque. Inspect for a close fit between the pulley and the cable stop, but not too snug to prevent the pulley from moving freely.

Step 4

Test and make sure that you can rotate the spring-tensioned pulley clockwise from approximately 1 o'clock to the 5 o'clock position. Make sure the pulley returns freely and completely, and operates smoothly.

Step 5

Install the red rebound knob by lining up the set screw with the depression on the rebound cam and tightening to ~5 in.-lb with a 1.5mm hex wrench.

Step 6

The CTD Remote eyelet assembly is now complete and ready to be assembled onto the shaft.
